Some Photometry Parameters for RASO Scopes
AREO 1 SNR/Magnitude Relationships.

Ed Wiley recently (27 Aug. 06) imaged a Landolt field located at 18:43:09,+00:29:00. V magnitudes of standard stars varied from 11.312 to 14.0. With a 120 second exposure the 14th magnitude stars had an SNR of 100, indicating the limits for good SNR at 120 seconds for this telescope/camera/filter combination. 60 second exposures with R and I filters also yielded SNR = 100 for the magnitude 14 stars in the field.

Norris Measures for AREOs 1, 2 and 4

Chris Norris has completed CCD tests for AREO 1, 2, and 4. Results can be downloaded as a PDF file and are excellent, image with confidence!

Chris Norris reports (PDF file) photometry results for M67 and NGC 7790 using AREO2. He has found that the new focus capability has significantly increased his ability to measure faint variables.
